Ghibli Fest is an ongoing monthly look at the animated films of Hayao Miyazaki, the acclaimed Japanese director whose ecologically themed adventures (My Neighbor Totoro; Spirited Away) feature nifty visual details and odd narrative turns that appeal to children and adult cinephiles alike. First released in 1997, Princess Mononoke is one of his most well-known, and the war between man and spirit gods is a captivating one. Monday’s screening is subtitled with the original Japanese cast; on Wednesday Regal Cinemas locations (but not Showcase locations) will screen the English dubbed version, featuring with a funny cast that includes Claire Danes, Billy Bob Thornton, and Gillian Anderson as a wolf.
