The Providence Singers have organized z percussive show highlighting a quintet of contemporary composers. Dating back to 1992, Eric Whitacre’s Cloudburst is the oldest of the bunch, while the newest is a premiere work from the Singers’ assistant conductor Michael Galib, based around a poem by Naomi Shihab Nye. You can expect lots of xylophone, marimba, harp, and gong over the course of the program, which is rounded out by old-timers Charles Ives (Psalm 90) and Leonard Bernstein (the Hebrew Chichester Psalms).
