Record Store Day turns 10. The annual event includes newly issued vinyl releases that run the gamut from nostalgia for the recently departed (Bowie/Prince/Sharon Jones/Leonard Cohen/etc.) to oddities from all genres (Slick Rick! Bettie Serveert! Run the Jewels! A Johnny Cash children’s album!) About ten stores are participating locally. Thayer Street’s What Cheer is hosting live performances from Tall Teenagers, The Low Cards, The ‘Mericans, Allysen Callery, and Kate Mick. It’s the store’s final Record Store Day, since it has fallen victim to the same East Side landlords that recently drove Nice Slice and Paper Nautilus away from their current locations.
