As a child, my favorite time of year was National Reading Week, because at a certain point of the day a bell would ring and the class was forced to Drop Everything And Read (DEAR) a book for 15 or 20 minutes, which was way more exciting than learning about permafrost or roman numerals or the California Gold Rush or all of those other things we were taught in great depth about. This event is kind of like that, an anti-social social activity, and a convenient chance to read a book quietly in the park. There’s a Facebook page which I believe will be updated with more specific info (ie. where in the park everybody will be).
