Providence native Ben Chace returns home for a screening of Sin Alas (Without Wings), the director’s unusual new romance. Inspired by a Jorge Luis Borges story, Sin Alas begins with a retired Cuban journalist learning about the death of an old lover, a celebrated dancer. The first American movie filmed in Cuba since 1959, it was shot in dreamy 16mm, an aesthetic choice that led to unusual directorial hardships. (Chace couldn’t actually view the footage until he was back in the States.) He and some of the Cuban cast will answer questions after the screeening.
