Stephen Vitiello, Virginia-based electronic musician and media artist, visits 186 Carpenter for a performance. Sound artist might be a more appropriate term for Vitiello, since he straddles the line between fine art (his work is collected by museums) and music performance (he plays things in front of you). I’m sorry, I realize I’m not making this sound appealing at all. Maybe just give it a listen? The show also features composer/saxpohonist Neil Leonard, the modular electronic systems of Luke Moldof, and improvisational cello and electronics from MEM1. While you’re there, be sure to check out Monica Shinn’s painting show on the walls, which is very good and only up for a little while longer.
