There’s a lot of tape hiss and vocal distortion in the recordings of Suicide Magnets, as if singer-songwriter Wendy Hyatt somehow incorporated a long string and a Progresso soup can into her recording process. (It’s better than that probably sounds.) That vocal distortion also comes through in Hyatt’s live show, where she’s joined by drummer Chris Urany. Machines With Magnets calls this bill “a weird night,” one which also features the performative knitting of Domestique, the headache-inducing talk-singing of Andy Cigarettes, and the ambient instrumentals of Kansas City’s Inspired School of Astral Music. There’s also a new movie from Carlos Gonzales and between set sounds from DJ Clunk.
