Thalia Zedek Band just released Eve, an album that’s particularly downbeat even by the standards of Boston’s notoriously glum rock singer. Three decades into Zedek’s career, her voice has gotten more raw but more thoughtful, and her craggly quirks are on full display here, since her chamber rock backing band stays mostly in the background aside from the odd viola freakout. Tara Jane O’Neil and the Huntress and Holder of Hands share the bill.
It’s quite a big night for happenings on the West Side – you can start at the Ada Books 10th Anniversary Party (719 Westminster Street) and then hit the homemade wallpaper exhibit at 186 Carpenter,* both of which are very close to the Columbus.
* Full disclosure: my boyfriend is in the wallpaper show so of course I want you to go.
