Will Brumley’s new play The Clinic is about an abortion provider in Wichita, but organizations around the country are producing staged readings of the work in a fundraising effort for local and national women’s health organizations. Locally produced by Rebecca Gibel and Jessie Darrell Jarbadan, this staged reading features a who’s who of local acting talent: Dorry winner Rachael Warren, most recently seen in Fun Home and heard in Little Shop of Horrors, as well as Becky Bass, Carla Martinez, Anne Scurria, and Sylvia Ann Soares. It’s directed by Jackie Davis, most recently seen on the Trinity Rep stage in Marisol and Black Odyssey. After the play, there’s a panel discussion with Senator Gayle Goldin, who sponsored the Reproductive Privacy Act; Jordan Hevenor of the Womxn Project, and Tiara TyShae of the Women’s Health and Education Fund. Those two organizations, along with Planned Parenthood, will be recipients of proceeds from the evening.
