Every day this summer, Cinemaworld Lincoln presents a 10am screening that’s free for kids and only $2 for adults. The Iron Giant is not your typical children’s movie, though. For one thing, it makes adults cry. For another thing, it’s about a pacifist superhero being chased through rural Maine by paranoid government officials in 1957. Oh, and the book that it’s based on was directly inspired by Sylvia Plath’s suicide. Gort meets Groot when a quiet metal creature voiced by Vin Diesel lands on earth to spread the message of peace. He just happens to look like a killing machine. One of the best movies from what some might call the best movie year ever.
