There’s a vacant-eyed junkie on the cover of the Low Cards’ self-titled debut album, and the drawing (by Warren artist William Schaff) is fairly reflective of the band’s sound – pained, despondent, old-timey. The album is well done, dodging the corny trappings of many fire and brimstone Americana acts. But does it pair well with The Grange’s vegan kimchi tacos? I haven’t seen the Low Cards live yet, but their rootsy revivalism seems designed to build off the energy of a live audience. The show is presented by PVD Live, a site with weekly listings of shows happening around town.
