Choreographer Paul Taylor collaborated with artist Robert Rauschenberg on “Tracer,” a 1962 dance that was lost until Taylor commissioned dancer Kim Jones to recreate it earlier this year. (The New York Times calls Jones a “dance detective,” one who uses still images, choreographers notes, and dancers’ fading memories to reconstruct lost dances.) A talk about Rauschenberg’s interest in performance will culminate with a performance of Tracer by the Taylor 2 dance company. This is one of several Taylor-related events FirstWorks is doing this fall, as they build up to February’s world premiere of a new work by the 86-year old choreographer. (Bonus: Sundays are free at the RISD Museum!)
