Few shows this summer ring of randomness quite like Dedee Shattuck’s exhibition of eleven artists from Transylvania and Moldova, the latter being the poorest and least visited country in Europe. Luckily, there are some real gems in the show, chief among them two spooky landscape paintings by Romanian painter Radu Baies. One looks like a mossy brain, the other could be a green ram’s skull monster that may or may not be underwater. They’re wonderful in their strange ambiguity. Other favorites (all of which are situated in the same corner of the gallery) include a painting from fellow Transylvanian Sergiu Laslo and three photographs from Moldovan fashion photographer Viktoria Viprada [pictured above]. Definitely see this one if you can.
