In one of Shakespeare’s earliest comedies, two dopey bros head to Milan, where they both fall head over heels for a duke’s daughter. Proteus (Maggie Papa) and Valentine (Magenta Kolakowski) behave terribly, both to the women in their lives and also to one another. Since it’s a comedy, everyone lives happily ever after, or at least lives. Contemporary Theatre Company’s production features female actors in all the major roles. Outdoor performances (weather permitting) take place on the theatre’s increasingly built-out patio space, now with a bigger garden and an outdoor bar. In August they switch over to Henry IV, Part I, the second half of their summer Shakespeare on the Saugatucket series, which runs Wednesdays and Sundays.
