Festival Ballet’s Up Close On Hope series returns with a sextet of selections performed at the ballet’s intimate Hope Street theater, where the audience is literally just a few feet away from the dancers. The fall edition of the program includes two world premieres: Mary Ellen Beaudreau’s Swimmers Suite features eighteen dancers in swim caps, while former leading dancer Vilia Putrius choreographed a new ballet entitled Seven Sides of You. I missed the first weekend – Andria at Broadway World really liked it and Channing Grey gave it a relatively positive review in the Journal. Both agreed that Artistic Director Mihailo Djuric’s Balkan inspired Magnificat was a highlight. It runs for three more performances.
