The fourth annual University of Rhode Island Guitar Festival runs from Friday through Sunday and features daily workshops and masterclasses with guitarists from all over the world. There’s even a flamenco guitarist from Russia. 18-year old Vietnamese guitarist An Tran won the festival’s Rising Stars competition last year; he returns this year to teach and perform. The Friday evening concert features French classical guitarist Gaelle Solal, Connecticut guitarist and producer David Veslocki, and the Rhode Island based L’Esperance Mandolin Ensemble (pictured L-R), while earlier in the day guitarists can take masterclasses with guitarists from Greece, Belgium, and Vietnam.
