Providence’s new music ensemble Verdant Vibes introduce multimedia premieres by women composers this weekend at Brown (on Friday) and URI (on Sunday). This concert marks a milestone for the ensemble, in that it features the world premiere of Verdant Vibes’s first commission. Carolina Heredia’s Disjointed Fragments is scored for vibraphone, piano, bass, and electronics, with video by Katina Bitsicas and movement by Gisela Creus. Other pieces include works by Kristina Warren (another world premiere, this one involving a wearable analog synth), Elizabeth A. Baker, and ensemble co-founder Kirsten Volness.
