Richard Donelly and Tom Gleadow are the grumpy, twinkle-eyed leads in The Wilbury Group’s crackling Waiting for Godot. It’s a physical, very funny take on Samuel Beckett’s minimally sketched story about two men with nothing to do but wait for their next disappointment. Director Fred Sullivan Jr. keeps things lively, highlighting the absurdity and downplaying Beckett’s political commentary, as when the evenly matched pair receive a visit from a haughty master (Brandon Whitehead) and breathless slave (Zachary Gibb). The set’s a little awkward and the appearance of a child kills some momentum, but four excellent performances make this one worth seeing.
