Reviews have been mixed for I’ll Take You There, the latest from Oprah favorite Wally Lamb. (“It’s hard not to be touched by this sweet-natured novel,” says The Washington Post.) The book got a fairly complicated release two weeks ago – it was released as an app before it came out in print – but the story’s pretty old-timey: Connecticut film professor Felix Funicello receives an unexpected visitor, the ghost of real-life silent film director Lois Weber. She takes him on an It’s A Wonderful Life-style journey into his childhood, screening films of Funicello’s childhood and letting him jump through the screen into his past. Lamb will discuss the book and do a signing.
