London quartet Wolf Alice recently played to a hometown crowd of ten thousand, but they haven’t quite had the same level of success in the US. That’s too bad, because their nineties-tinged Britrock is actually very good. (Some of their songs are loud – I’m partial to “You’re a Germ,” with its zombie slasher video. On the newer single “Don’t Delete the Kisses,” leader Ellie Roswell mixes a shouty, Sleigh Bells chorus with lovelorn spoken verses. In one interview they compare the song to beetroot hummus, whatever that is.) Their live show is allegedly awesome. Young duo Polyplastic opens.
