A cast of over two dozen cram into the Artists Exchange, home of Cranston’s Epic Theatre Company. (When I spoke to Epic Artistic Director Kevin Broccoli last year he mentioned this show happening at the Pawtucket Armory; I’m not sure what fell through.) Wolf Hall, adapted from Hilary Mantel’s bestseller, is about that jerk Henry VIII (Geoff Leatham) and his trusted advisor Thomas Cromwell (Kevin Broccoli). Henry’s wants his marriage annulled and the Catholic Church won’t have it. Directed by Vince Petronio, this one seems aimed to remind us that powerful leaders are inevitably creepy and terrible. By the way, proceeds from this weekend’s performances will be donated to the Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights.
