Authors in the Archives is a new series highlighting poets and fiction writers whose work comes from, to quote the organizers, “creative and sagacious use of primary source materials.” First up are Megan Milks and Lauren Russell. Milks is the author of Kill Marguerite and Other Stories (2015) and four chapbooks, and they edit the Fiction section of online literary journal The Account. Russell is a poet and author of the forthcoming collection Descent, winner of the 2019 Tarpaulin Sky Book Awards. She is assistant director of the Center for African American Poetry and Poetics at the University of Pittsburgh. The reading will be followed by a librarian-led discussion about both writers’ use of primary sources.
The event takes place in the library’s Willis Reading Room.
