Eleven shows to check out this month, arranged by opening date.

Patreon subscribers already got an exclusive guide to the fall arts season. If you’d like to get an early heads up about cultural events around the state, consider subscribing.

Notable artist talks happening this month:
Sanford Biggers at Brown (10/2), Mariama Diallo at RISD (10/7), SooJin Buzelli and Chris Buzelli at RISD (10/10), Brendan Fernandes at Brown (10/16), Coco Fusco at Brown (10/17), Nicole Eisenman at RISD (10/23)

One other event of note: I rarely get to cover the rural villages of South County, but nearly 30 artists are taking part in the HopArts Studio Trail, an open studio tour taking place in rural barns, farmhouses, and mills during peak foliage season. The trail more or less spirals out from Hope Valley, with stops in Ashaway, Carolina, and Rockville.
